Astrid has a sweater with stripes. Orange and white. She is exhausted from writing stuff to people on Facebook. Tomorrow she’ll get up early because she’s going to work.

I am going to London on Monday

Yes, I changed the header again. I like this one better. What do you think of it?

Today was the last day of school before the summer holiday! Except for the normal summer holiday stuff, like bathing and stuff, I want to do a lot of these:

– Mountain trips (hiking) (Refer to previous post about destinations)

– Jogging (I’m thinking about doing a daily walk/jog to Brekkeheida…)

– Extended Essay

– History + Norwegian + the slightest of Chemistry and Physics

– Working on my own field, and helping my mum

– Climb with Ingrid

– Read a lot

– 1 week in London!

My sister and I on a hydro cycle in Bucharest (Bucuresti) last summer

In retrospect of this year it seems like this year has passed pretty fast! It feels so recent that I was at home packing down all my stuff. Do I miss home? Yes and no. I didn’t really feel home sick until this May, but then I missed Ørsta a lot. I miss my mum’s food, my friends (some of them at least:p), my family, my bed and the scenery. However, I like it here in Trondheim so I wouldn’t want to change back. I like the school, my class-mates and the independence. I find it scary to think of the fact that in one year (actually just 11 months! wtf!) we’ll be done with our exams, with IB, and with school (at least for a while)! Where will we all go? What will we all do? Questions of great importance! I’ll have to do a lot of thinking this summer, that’s for sure!

Have I gained something from this year? Except for some extra weight? Yes, what have I really learnt this year? [minus school stuff]

– It’s not as hard to get to know people as I thought

– That Astrid was responsible for most of the mess

– That I don’t need to watch TV

– That I don’t need meat for a meal to be proper dinner

– I have learnt to like a lot of food! Nuts, tomatoes, smoked salmon, kremost just to name a few!

– My body is more vulnerable than what I thought

– Probably more that I cannot think of now, and maybe some stuff I wouldn’t want to share?

What can I expect of next year? I must say I look forward to it! And not to be done, really :) Thanks to everyone in my class !

Have a nice summer holiday! I know I will :)

Au revoir! Auf Wiedersehen!

The Chocolate Party took place on the 30th of May, so a little more than a week ago. It was a very nice gathering, and the weather was extremely nice! I also got a lot of left-overs.. The White Chocolate Fondue I finished within a week.. It was just so tempting standing in front of me inside the fridge. The White Chocolate Nemesis failed cake I had eaten a lot of on the Friday before the party, and I really thought that no one would like it, cause it was kinda icky. BUT Mizuki liked it! :D Hmmm.. Well I finished that “soup” on the Pentecost Monday :) Moreover, I had quite a bit of the Brownie Cheese Cake left.. I ate a lot of whilst watching Hitch (On the Sunday) The rest I cut into pieces and froze, then I can just take one piece out :)

The Choclote Fondue (the vegan one) me and Hanne Mari finished on Saturday before we had to bike down to the cinema –> Star Trek. The only chocolate-related products I haven’t told the story of now, are all the small stuff. Like the Chocolate Pieces (White Chocolate, White Chocolate with hazels, Dark Chocolate with almonds and cherry) the Bailey’s Truffles, The Chocolate circles (?), the Snickers Bomb, The Freia Påske Eggs, and some Ferrero Rocher Charmini had brought. Everything except for the Ferrero Rocher, I brought to school last week.. We didn’t finish all the Chocolate Circles and pieces. Tomorrow I’ll bring the Ferrero Rocher.

Here is a picture taken from Kat’s facebook showing the table with most of the delicious chocolate products, she added a lot more nice pictures, so I would definitely recommend to visit her page if you have the opportunity :)

In addition to what I had made, Anders made a flourless cake, May a cookie-chocolate-tart and Jakob an extensive chocolate cake.It presumably contained 17 000 kcal! These cakes the people (luckily!) brought back home!

One of the favourites of the night of Chocolate, was  the Snickers Bomb/Snickers cake, and I got many requests for the recipe. First I would like to thank my mum for providing the recipe. She’s a great cook, and I can’t wait till I go home for the Summer to help her in cooking and learn, because I haven’t really been interested before.

The following recipe contains bad English! I found it really hard to translate a Norwegian recipe. If you have any corrections, please don’t hesitate to tell me, so that I can improve it for other potential readers, though I doubt there are many people reading this blog :p

The recipe is ridiculously easy, so try to make these tasty goodies:)

SNICKERS BOMB

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 dl light syrup.  (= 350 g)
  • 2 1/2 dl sugar
  • 1 dl coconut flakes (kokosmasse)
  • 1 jar of peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanillapowder
  • Cornflakes (as much as possible)

Procedure:

  1. Heat syrup, sugar and peanut butter gently
  2. Mix the rest in.
  3. Pour over a pan and press it to fit. (Hell masse over i ei 1/2 skuffe og trykk ut)

Topping:

  • 2 bars “kokesjokolade” ( = 200 g chocolate)
  • 2 table spoons “Delfiafett” (coco nut fat) [the top one in this photo]

Heat gently (preferrably in a bowl in water, “vannbad”)  and pour over cake.

Leave it in the refriegrator until hard, or a couple of hours.  Ready to be cut into pieces! I experienced that it would be best to take it out and leave it for a while before cutting, so that the chocolate topping didn’t break.

Today I went for a jog up around Estenstadmarka. I want to jog every day now! But I have to be careful to not overexert my knees :( Lately I’ve been going to Pirbadet (oftently misunderstood as Papirbadet, because I say: “Ej ska på Pirbadet” which sounds like: “Ej ska papirbadet”. DIGRESSION) with Irina and we’ve been very good swimmers. Approx. 1 hour of hardcore-swimming every time (twice for me).

My quiche is just done now, so I am going to taste it and leave it for tomorrow. Whilst tasting I’ll reply on Ingrid’s e-mail and then go to bed.

HAVE A GOOD NIGHT AND MAY YOUR DREAMS BE SUGARLY, CHOCOLATELY SWEET!

Summer time and summer music!

Fjelldag!

Magdalena, Jeanette and me on the way down from Melshornet on the “Fjelldag” last year. :)

That day was SUPER ! :)

I wish for days like that one in the Summer holiday :)

The Summer is closing up and there is almost only 1,5 months left of school. It is both sad and great at the same time. The idea of mine is to try to have a great time and enjoy the last time before the summer. Hopefully the weather will stay approximately the same way as it is now. That would be great! :D

Time

On Sunday it’s time to set our watches one hour ahead! Even though we get one hour less of sleep I’m still looking forward to it! To clear up some confusion (mainly to myself?): we will now have longer light in the evenings, but it will get darker in the mornings.

Some information about summer time (also called daylight saving time):

– It was Benjamin Franklin who first came with the idea in an essay in 1784

– William Willett followed it up with publishing more elaborate plannings in 1907 [He suggested that we should set our watches 80 min ahead during the summer to save energy]

– However, summer time wasn’t used until during WWI. Germany and occupied nations set their watches from 23.oo to 24.00 on the 30. april 1916

– Summer time (in Norway) lasts from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October

– Iceland is the only country in Europe which doesn’t practice the summer time setting of watches

– Cuba set her (blæ) watches for summer time in 2004, but waited until 2006 to set it back

Kat had her birthday party here on Saturday :) Funfunfun..! check out her blog for some pictures ;) moleKAT on the sidebar.

I was thinking of holding the CP [chocolate party] on May 2.  But that’s like the weekend before our exams, so I guess people wouldn’t want to do that. What do you reckon? Perhaps after our exams then..

I can’t wait till after April 24. !!  :D 1 month left :)

Tonight I will be sleeping in my own bed and move into my room again. I haven’t been sleeping in my own room permanently since before Christmas, because I felt it was a bit hard to get up in the morning when it was cold in my room. The minimum temperature that has been in there is 6.4 °C, due to the fact that I can’t use the radiator in there because the fuse only blows then. Anyways, I’m oddly enough looking forward to going to sleep in my own room again.

This weekend was nice :) Thank you, Ingrid and Jeanette for coming !  When we were downtown on Saturday, the weather reminded me of late summer. Can’t wait till then. But still I hope for some snow in the Easter holiday, so that me, my sister (Ingeborg) and my dad can go skiing a lot.

I am also looking forward to the summer holiday! Hmm, I shouldn’t plan too much – I will only get disappointed,  I guess :P

My mom has a nice garden, especially in spring time:
